The Death Penalty

The Death Penatly

There are many opinions about the death penalty, all which are influenced by religion, human morals, or just personal belief.  According to the Death Penalty Information Center, opinions that usually derive from religious background mainly are against the death penalty including Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam all of which have individual statements regarding the death penalty.  I believe that the death penalty should be abolished, but some crimes that involve inhumane wrong-doing’s may over turn my opinion on that particular crime.  In a typical crime for a death sentence, I feel that it is enough torture to make someone sit in a jail cell for the rest of there lives which gives them plenty of time to think about how they could be a free person if it wasn’t for one stupid decision.  In crimes that involve outrageous acts including mass murder, terrorism, and child murder are crimes that depending on the circumstances may change my mind.  To clarify I would only change my mind about reinstating the death penalty under these special circumstances, and let the rest play itself out.

  1. I agree with you that the death penalty should be abolished. I find it morally wrong for us to decide which human being should die. Although there are times where I see a crime so horrible, I feel the criminal should receive the ultimate punishment of death. Yet, in the end, I still can’t say a human being deserves death for what they have committed. I believe people should reflect on what they have done and see how wrong they were in doing such. Some of them might not feel remorse for what they have done, and then I feel even worse for them, since they are unable to feel emotions and enjoy life. In the end, they have lost themselves and their freedom.

  2. I also agree with you and think the death penalty should be our maximum punishment for every serious crime that is committed. I think having time to sit and think about all the wrong you have done is the best punishment. I agree with what you said about how some crimes deserve the death penalty. Not everybody can learn from their mistakes by just sitting in a jail cell for the rest of their life, they need to have a more serious punishment such as the death penalty to realize their actions were wrong. I feel having the death penalty for the more serious crimes will send the message that doing so is not acceptable.
